Hialeah is unique in that it has the highest percentage of Cuban and Cuban American residents of any city in the United States, and this largely contributes to the city’s culture. The name Hialeh means pretty prairie because the city is located between the Everglades and Biscayne Bay on a large prairie. The city of Hialeah is famous for horse and greyhound racing and is home to the famous Hialeah Park Race Track.
