Business Valuation Services – Frequently Asked Questions
What does a business valuation typically cost in the Charlotte area?
Typically, a range of $5,000 – $10,000 but can be much higher in litigation +$25,000.
There are two types of report that valuation standards recognize – a calculation (price $4.5k – 6k) and a conclusion of value (price $8.5k – 12.5k). Most of our valuations are calculation engagements as most folks don’t need the more rigorous conclusion of value. We recommend conclusions for litigation, large IRS matters, SBA and 409a valuations.
How long does a professional business valuation usually take?
Four weeks.
It can be as quick as 2 weeks if the client has all pertinent data ready 3 years business tax returns and 3 years financial statements.
SBA valuation typically takes 2 weeks or less as the banks have the data needed to complete assignment.
Litigation valuation can take more than 6 months when parties do not want to cooperate.
When is a certified business valuation required?
It is mandatory when the valuation is for an IRS purpose (charitable donation of private company stock, a non-charitable gift of private company stock, etc.), divorce court, shareholder disputes, SBA Loans, and 409A stock pricing for compliance with options law.
